The Story

It began with two horses and a dog who was never supposed to stay.

One horse came to us years ago — the steady one, the elder, known by half the community and every judge at the local shows. The other arrived more recently: younger, gentler, still learning where she fits. Between them, weekends filled up with early starts, float rides, and quiet mornings at the dressage arena — setting out the white boards with their black letters while the mist lifted off the grass.

Then, one Christmas, a pug turned up.

He was three months old and, strictly speaking, a misunderstanding. The little dog needed somewhere to sleep that wasn’t a shop, just for one night. One night became a morning drop-off and an afternoon pick-up, and then another, and then the sort of paperwork that makes things official. Somewhere in there he had decided that the horses were his, and the humans were his, and this was home.

We call him Frederick.

He is small and round and mostly ears — black and white, with a pair of surprising blue eyes — devoted to people and food in roughly equal measure. And he sees the whole horse world from the bottom up: a very short dog looking up at very tall friends, trotting the arena like he owns it, certain he is exactly the right size.

107 Stable is the world we’re drawing around them — the everyday magic of stable life, told from the ground, through the eyes of the smallest one in it. Big horses, a little dog, dressage days, small disasters, and a great deal of ordinary love.

We’re making it in the open — sketches, decisions, mistakes and all. If that’s your kind of thing, join the waitlist and come along for the ride.
